Understanding International Repatriation Insurance

March 28, 2012 by Auni

People have different reasons for travelling or living abroad. Irrespective of those reasons they require international insurance policies. What they are not aware of is that not all international insurance include international repatriation insurance.

This type of insurance covers three major aspects that are considered delicate or highly sensitive topics: health, evacuation, and repatriation of remains.

Most international insurance includes health insurance, but evacuation insurance is not included in all policies. International evacuation insurance policies protect the policyholder not only against risk hazards, but also ensure his or her medical evacuation from the country where the event occurred. The policy covers transportation costs to the country of origin, along with medical assistance if treatment is not available locally.

This kind of insurance also covers another aspect of life that is not so pleasant, which is the repatriation of remains. Unfortunately, death strikes when least expected and it does not care that you are on vacation. Unfortunate events happen everywhere and that is why you should spare your family of the trouble and consider international repatriation insurance for remains.

International Repatriation Insurance: The Risks of Not Getting Cover

March 17, 2012 by Auni

International repatriation insurance is a special type of insurance that is required in case of medical emergencies that require repatriation due to medical emergencies or death. It is not the same with as international health insurance. People who travel to high-risk territories or have reasons to fear for their health more than other people would normally contract it under the same circumstances.

Travelling is something people choose to do because they love it. People enjoy travelling whether they are 15 or 65. The only difference is that when you are 15 you have almost no concerns related to your health, whereas when you are 65, you have to be careful with your health. Sometimes people save a life time to be able to travel, but travelling without peace of mind cannot be enjoyed. Therefore the only option is to get covered by repatriation insurance policy.

A foreign territory exposes people to risks they often ignore. It is not only a completely new territory with a completely different healthcare system, but it is a territory with different climate, customs, cuisine, and drinks, different ingredients, way of driving, sleeping conditions, and more. As tempted as you may be to take no notice of these things, they are all considered risk factors that should not be neglected and should be protected against.

Medical emergencies may be triggered by various causes and can happen anywhere. But are you willing to take the risk that they happen in conditions which may worsen your situation? Is it worth the risk of not getting the proper medical help simply because you wished to cut down on your costs? Death is the worst that could happen but, if it should happen, you are covered best by international repatriation insurance.

Anticipating Disasters with Medical Evacuation and Repatriation Insurance

March 12, 2012 by Auni

Getting medical evacuation and repatriation insurance is one way of anticipating disasters when on vacation. No one is able to predict events in the future and anything can happen when you are on vacation.

For instance, you go on a vacation somewhere out of the country. One day, while you are out having coffee, you suddenly feel fainted, and then you fall and hit your head.

The accident eventually resulted in a fractured skull and part of your brain bleeds. You require immediate surgery to prevent things from becoming even worse.

The problem is, the local hospital does not have enough equipment or manpower for the surgery to be performed so the doctor suggests that you be evacuated to a hospital in your home country where you can be well taken care of. Medical evacuation does not come cheap so if you have no medical evacuation and repatriation insurance, you are basically spending money that is way out of your budget and that could lead you to being in a financial, and medical crisis, a situation you do not want to be in.
