Types of International Repatriation Insurance

May 13, 2012 by Auni

There is no doubt that international repatriation insurance is one type of insurance that no one should neglect. Although travelling is not associated with negative events, the truth is that illness or death do not care that you are on vacation. Therefore, anyone who considers taking one trip or more outside the country needs to take into account the unexpected. Here are some of the most commonly offered types of repatriation insurance:

  • Individual Study Insurance is a low cost repatriation insurance covering medical and evacuation costs, as well as certain types of sports. The minimum period is one day, while the maximum is one year.
  • Expatriate Insurance is a type of repatriation insurance dedicated especially to those who are working and living abroad. It can cover a number of medical services including evacuation. It also includes repatriation of remains and much more.
  • Annual Travel Insurance is dedicated to the frequent traveler who takes more than one trip per year. The purpose of the trip is not important; it can be both business and/or pleasure. However, it includes all that typical repatriation insurance includes.
  • Flexible Travel Insurance covers trip cancellations, medical emergencies, evacuation, accidental deaths, repatriation of remains, and more. These are valid only for single trips and are dedicated to people who go on vacation once a year or unexpectedly.

International repatriation insurance can have many forms. It is needed whenever someone goes outside the frontiers of his or her country. It can be for business, pleasure, or educational purposes. The point is that any travel activity abroad needs repatriation insurance, simply because it does not matter why you travel; it just matters that you do.
